The Hippodrome, today named Sultanahmet Square, dates from the 3rd century AD. With a seating capacity of 30,000, it was used for sporting and political events, and it was decorated with obelisks and monuments. The 3500-year old Obelisk, Istanbul’s oldest monument, was brought from Egypt and installed by the Emperor Theodosius I in 390 AD.

Night at Hagia Sophia. Hagia Sophia (Aya Sofya) is a great architectural beauty and an important monument in Istanbul, Turkey. Once a church, later a mosque, and now a museum. Hagia Sophia has always been the precious of its time.

Turyol Bosphorus Cruises are more modern than the traditional ferries .The 1.5-hour TurYol cruise costs TL12, and brings you right back to the Galata Bridge and TurYol captains say “We stay close to the shore so you can see things better.”

The Topkapi Palace Museum is a large palace in Istanbul,Turkey. In 1924 it was turned into a museum at Atatiirk’s request. Situated on the acropolis, the site of the first settlement in Istanbul, it commands an impressive view of the Golden Horn, the Bosphorus and the Sea of Marmara. The palace is a complex surrounded by 5 km of walls and occupies an area of 700,000 sq. m at the tip of the historical peninsula.
